Most of us tend to get overwhelmed when a sudden situation arises, it is hard for us to control our decisions that result in negative actions. It could be a trigger from past experiences you want to forget, negative emotion from something you are not familiar with, fear, or memories that hinders us from healing, these are just some of the things that make us hard do the right decisions. Even the little problems could get worst when we are overwhelmed that is why it is important to know what to do when things are getting bad again that can be a big help in handling the situation in a calmer way. It is also important to remember that people have different ways to handle negative emotions, we all have different emotional capacities, it could be a small problem in your perspective and could be a bigger problem to other people that’s why we should be sensitive when talking to someone. We cannot judge them on how they handling their situation and not judge ourselves when we are having tough days, weeks, or even months— which is what I am going to discuss in number one.

1. Positive Self-talk

You don’t have to be hard on yourself, don’t be too harsh because you are not your enemy. Practice positive self-talk where you acknowledge your negative feelings.

2. Go for a run

It helps you clear your thoughts, makes your body tired, and helps you have a clearer perception of what’s wrong with you.

3. Meditate

Helps you calm down where you can able to think clearly, this will also help you make decisions that are right and not based on raging emotions.

4. Take a bath

Taking a bath is a refreshing thing to do, it’s like washing away all the negative thoughts.

5. Sleep

It’s not bad to escape sometimes and sleeping is one of the ways to stop thinking for a while. Sleep if you needed it, it gives you rest enough to deal with yourself later.

6. Go out

Go for a walk or have fun just to ease the feelings for a while.

7. Eat your favorite food

This is one of the easiest things to do when you want to feel other emotions other than feeling bad. Go and grab your favorite food, and give yourself time to enjoy the meal.

There are things that we cannot prevent and control, but there are also things that we can do to make things better. When it’s getting bad again always remember that it’s just a phase, that tomorrow, next week, or in a month, you’re having your best life.
