Are you a Graduating Student

As the cliché always says “a new chapter” or “a beginning and new journey” after you graduate from college, this is where you start to think seriously about your future and consider the consequences of every decision you will make. They say at this stage, you start to become more practical in life and mature. But before you jump to that stage, you have to go through your obstacle. I’d say, the battle within yourself. Imagine you’re a graduating student and as graduation slowly comes, anxiety rises about the future. Those “what-ifs” that keep you stay late at night or make you distracted every day because of the fear that you might not succeed. Admit it or not, even though we know to ourselves that we have the ability to do things well, there is always this thing that keeps us doubting ourselves. There’s a lot of time that we have to convince ourselves that careers and life are not a race, but on the other side, it feels like we are being left behind. Most of the people we know our age have a salary, a car, a trip across the country every month, or they are living their best life but for you, it feels like you’re just going to start to walk in your path.

Most of the time, you don’t have any idea what awaits you in the future. You don’t have any single clue what comes next, and where your choices and decisions will lead you. It’s like there are a lot of different paths, yet you don’t know where to go, and even though you know where you came from, you still feel lost at some times. It’s like learning to dance, finding out what movement is suited to you. Especially knowing what the pandemic brought to us, just like a machine that stopped working for years and one day, we have to work. Where are we going to get the confidence we need to go out of our comfort zone? To face the reality as an adult?

It’s kind of scary yet exciting at the same time, thinking about what path you will take after you graduate. Are you going to start a family? A business? Or pursue your profession? What will you choose?

This is going to be your one last dance for the past 15 years of studying; do not let your fear stop you from reaching your dreams. Stop letting yourself doubt yourself because you won’t make it here if you’re a total failure. You wake up every day, not for nothing but because you want to find out where you want to be and that is something you should be proud of. It is okay if you still have no idea what tomorrow offers you, just dance gracefully to the flow of the present life you have.

This is your last dance; make it the best one.
